Blocked Gutter Call-Outs Across Nottinghamshire
A blocked gutter rarely announces itself until the next downpour sends water over the edge. Through one enquiry you can reach up to four gutter specialists who handle blockages across Nottinghamshire, with many able to attend quickly.
Blockages tend to form at outlets, internal corners and valley gutters where two roof slopes meet. Until it is cleared, each heavy shower soaks the brickwork below.
What a Call-Out Involves
A camera on an extendable pole shows exactly where the blockage sits and how far the silt reaches. Loose leaves and silt are vacuumed out, while matted roots or nests may need lifting out by hand. Where the outlet itself is packed, rods are used to free the swan neck. The section is then water-tested to make sure it drains and does not pond.
A targeted call-out should identify the section holding standing water before clearing it. A follow-up water test helps show whether the downpipe is also obstructed.
Common Causes of Blocked Gutters in Nottinghamshire
- Leaf plugs sitting over the outlet
- Clumps of roof moss dislodged by birds
- Bird nests in the gutter or outlet
- Lost tennis balls lodged in the gutter
- Weeds and seedlings rooted in the silt
- A dip in the gutter where silt collects
How Much Does It Cost to Clear a Blocked Gutter in Nottinghamshire?

|---|---|
| Single blocked outlet, easy access | £60 – £100 |
| Several blockages or two-storey rear | £100 – £150 |

If the gutters have not been cleaned for over a year, a full clean may be better value than clearing one blockage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some quick answers about overflowing gutters.
How quickly can a blocked gutter be cleared in Nottinghamshire?
Many companies can attend within a few days, and some offer same-week or urgent call-outs when water is reaching a door or soaking an internal wall.
Why does my gutter keep blocking in the same place?
Repeat blockages at one spot usually point to an outlet below overhanging trees, a corner where debris collects or a sag that holds water. Gutter guards or a repair may stop it recurring.
Can water from a blocked gutter damage my house?
Yes. Overflowing water can saturate brickwork, wash out mortar, stain render and cause damp patches on internal walls.
